2018 has been a year for Monroeville to be thankful for. Thousands have come through the Smoky Mountains to see the band play, and Monroeville has enjoyed meeting new fans as they have started touring again! They're looking forward to 2019 getting out to some new places, and working on new music!
Monroeville is now a staple for East Tennessee tourists, and they are proud of their Smoky Mountain home. Matt Munsey is from Newport, in Cocke County, based in the East Tennessee Smoky Mountains. In August, they were able to show off their downtown area that is being revitalized through a Facebook Live Tour and mini concerts down by the River Walk and in a few businesses that have newly opened downtown.
Monroeville has now partnered with one of those new downtown businesses, The Rustic Cow - one of the coolest hand-dipped ice cream shops that also features made to order sandwiches, soups and specialty coffees! Their passion for helping revitalize downtown Newport was a perfect match for Monroeville's mission of inspiring young people through music!
Denise Naville, owner of The Rustic Cow says, "Ice Cream doesn't discriminate. Any age and background can sit together and enjoy ice cream, and we wish to have an atmosphere that encourages people to sit and visit and enjoy something together. And, Monroeville's mission of inspiring others through music, and their history of providing free youth and school programs, just fits with ours. We're supporting each other in this endeavor to grow something here, and we're glad we can be a part of a growing downtown area in East Tennessee."
Denise, along with Monroeville's manager, Sheri Clark, have teamed up with Matt Munsey who now serves on the Board of Directors for The Rustic Cow Foundation - a not-for-profit organization set up for the purpose of providing free or low-cost music and performance-art related shows and educational events in Newport and Cocke County, TN.
The RC Foundation is set up to grow, headquarter and produce these programs.
The foundation's first Event is December 7 at 7 p.m. at The Rustic Cow - A Rustic Cow BarnYard Christmas - and all profits go to the foundation. Check out the poster for more information, or click here on our Youth Programs link.
